Cacao or cocoa (Theobroma cacao) is a rainforest tree whose seeds are used to make chocolate. The pulp around the seeds is sweet-sour and delicious. Trinitario types were produced by hybridization of Criollo and Forastero type cacao varieties, and combine the quality of Criollo with the productivity and disease resistance of Forastero. Seeds are large and rounded, light purple to purple and available year round.
